What is a clinical psychologist?

A health professional that is registered with the New Zealand Psychologists Board (legislative governing body), under the clinical scope of practice. A clinical psychologist has completed between 6 and 9 years of university study, and specialises in the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of psychological and behavioural problems.

Is my information private?

Yes. As registered health professionals, clinical psychologists adhere to the rules and principles of the Privacy Act 1993, Health Information Privacy Code (1994), and the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act 2003.

Do you work with children?

No. I focus on working with adolescents and adults from age 14 and up.

Do you charge for non-attendance?

Yes, I charge for cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice.

Is there financial support?

  • Sometimes a subsidy is available through Work and Income NZ if you are on income support. Consult with WINZ if you think you are eligible.
  • I am a registered provider of EAP services with the Medical Protection Society (MPS). MPS funds psychological sessions for their members. Contact MPS to discuss a referral.
  • Depending on your health insurance policy, you may also have cover for psychological treatment. Consult with your insurance provider to see if psychological treatment is covered.

On what days can I make an appointment?

Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays between 8-5pm. I do not work on weekends or public holidays.
